           En marge de l'étourdissant défilé d'images, leurs auteurs parlent de leur travail avec une franchise et une diversité passionnantes, de l'extraordinaire duo amoureux et créatif formé par Robert Crumb et sa femme Aline Kominsky à la décontraction de Zep, des femmes sublimes et immuables dessinées par l'Italien Manara au trait épuré de la jeune Aude Picault ("C'est un exercice un peu particulier de dessiner du cul") en passant par les comics décomplexés de l'Allemand Ralf König. Parallèlement, on voit à travers leurs dessins défiler les bouleversements du demi-siècle passé : libération sexuelle et Women's Lib, combat des homosexuels pour la reconnaissance, avatars successifs de la censure. La BD érotique a désormais quitté l'enfer des bibliothèques pour devenir un genre à part entière, dont s'emparent des auteurs toujours plus nombreux et créatifs. De l'enfance de l'art à son âge adulte, ce documentaire léger comme une bulle nous convie à découvrir quarante ans de planches érotiques. Au-delà de l'imaginaire, des fantasmes et de l'esthétique de leurs auteurs, elles racontent aussi les rapports de la société avec le sexe et l'interdit, le montrable et l'inavouable, la censure, la liberté. Celle qui nous guide dans ce voyage dessiné dans le temps et autour du monde est charmante, rigolote et court vêtue. Mais attention ! Miss Molly Crabapple n'est pas du genre à se déguiser en infirmière. Pratiquant elle-même le genre avec humour et crudité, elle promène sa petite silhouette et ses commentaires mutins dans les dessins de ses grands aînés (Milo Manara, Robert Crumb, mais aussi le Japonais Suehiro Maruo, dont elle prise particulièrement le mélange d'horreur et de sexe), comme de ses contemporains – parmi lesquels le Suisse Zep (Happy sex) ou la Française Aude Picault (Comtesse). "Un exercice un peu particulier" En marge de l'étourdissant défilé d'images, leurs auteurs parlent de leur travail avec une franchise et une diversité passionnantes, de l'extraordinaire duo amoureux et créatif formé par Robert Crumb et sa femme Aline Kominsky à la décontraction de Zep, des femmes sublimes et immuables dessinées par l'Italien Manara au trait épuré de la jeune Aude Picault ("C'est un exercice un peu particulier de dessiner du cul") en passant par les comics décomplexés de l'Allemand Ralf König. Parallèlement, on voit à travers leurs dessins défiler les bouleversements du demi-siècle passé : libération sexuelle et Women's Lib, combat des homosexuels pour la reconnaissance, avatars successifs de la censure. Si en France, la dernière grande offensive en la matière eut lieu en 1987, Sex in the comics rappelle aussi, opportunément, que pour tout ce qui touche à la sexualité enfantine, le tabou est plus impitoyable que jamais.
